3,100sqm after four-stage module expansion
3,000sqm after four rebuilding and expansion phases
When PCS Module Systems carried out an extension with 12 customised PCS Comfort modules in summer 2015, this was stage four in the school’s expansion. Solhemsängen School now has a total surface area of 3,066sqm. The most recent extension means the school now has an activity room and a common room, which takes the school to Sweden’s F–4 standard, meaning that it is licensed to conduct a full range of school activities.
In spring and summer 2012, stage three of the building programme took place, which was a comprehensive rebuilding and extension of the school’s main two-storey building. The extension was some 1,200sqm with the help of 46 PCS modules as well as on-site rebuilding and extensions of existing areas. This work was a continuation of the building programme for the school started by PCS at the beginning of the 2000s, and in 2005 PCS added a second storey in stage two of the programme.
The result is a modern school that has an activity room for PE lessons, a carpentry room, a music room, a dining room, a preparation kitchen, class rooms, one of which is specially adapted for the hard of hearing, as well as group, equipment and a common room. The kitchen has also been equipped with a waste disposal unit and a grease separator that recycles waste food and fat to be used as biogas.
