PCS Modules create housing unit with 16 bedrooms
PCS Module Systems has delivered and assembled housing with space for 16 refugee children on behalf of Herrljunga council in Västergötland.
The modules, 19 in all, house 16 bedrooms, 12 showers and toilets, washrooms, offices, meeting and activity rooms, a kitchen and dining area, an equipment room and storage space. The building’s main entrance is located on the inside of the angled structure, where there is also space for a playground and green area.
The two arms of the structure are made up of eight and 11 units respectively, and are joined via a wide interlocking door which is covered and hidden by an external panel. The short walls of both arms of the structure are fitted with emergency exits, and the main entrance has been equipped with a stairway, a hallway, and a wheelchair ramp. The structure is single storey, and trusses have been fitted to the modules that support suspended ceilings, plywood and panels that give the structure an attractive, slanted roof.
The units in this application are 19 pre-school modules previously used in Nälsta in Stockholm, which have been reconditioned and adapted for use here.
