Follow the extension of this school

A straight road – all the way to completion. This is our promise from PCS Modulsystem. Follow us step by step in a large school extension project in Spånga and watch how we implemented it quickly, easily and securely. In the middle of April 2012, we initiated a large extension of Solhemsängen’s school in Spånga, Stockholm. When the autumn semester started five months later, the entire project was completed for the students, with facilities constructed on two floors consisting of 1,500 square meters. The school’s usable space grew and featured a large dining area, prep kitchen and eight additional new classrooms/domiciles, a library and rooms for the school nurse and counselor. All of this was built using 38 custom modules from PCS. The entire project has been ongoing since the autumn of 2011 with planning help from educational administration and school staff. Together we have compiled drawings and building permit applications. The actual construction project began during two weeks in April with the ground being prepared by excavation, drainage and all plumbing work. Please watch the video for stage 1 of the project. The other stages, see the videos for stage 2 to 5, from April to August included piling down to 24 meters, construction of foundation, installation of modules, roofing and then finishing touches inside and out.

STEP 3: See how the foundation is made ready for installation of the building’s new modules. During a few weeks in May the concrete block capitals are mounted to the steel piles, which then are adjusted on site and the concrete beams are placed to support the school.

STEP 4: Watch how PCS assembles 38 building modules and creates over 1,000 square meters of new school facilities in only a few days in June. Then the roof trusses and metal roof is added. In just a short time the entire school building is in place.
